Supply chain Financial transparency

The Supply Chain

It starts with a farmer.

Often travels to a co-op for consolidation, fermentation and drying.

Sold to an exporter, who sells it to an importer, who sells it to a broker, who sells it to us.

We sell it directly to you or to a shop for resell.

The Cacao Farmer

Cacao farmers, and their families, constitute the front line of chocolate production. Historically they have received very low compensation and when coupled with production risks have been forced to make hard decisions that could impact a long term sustainable environment.

The Cacao CO-Op

With 90% of cacao beans coming from small family farms, Cooperative (Co-Op’s) are a common central repository that provide a shared way to shoulder the costs and expertise associated with bean preparation for export.

Exporting & Importing

Raw cocoa belongs in the ‘most sensitive’ category of cargo - susceptible to unfavorable external factors, like moisture and odors. Without proper care the beans will be rejected upon arrival

cacao Brokers

This is a group of people who selflessly, and aggressively, work for real change in our world. Consistently fighting for financial prosperity/opportunity for those historically subjugated AND persist with greater expectations for environmental change.

Retail

We aren’t selling retail at this moment… when we do, we will update this page to include all the details; including what we are paid and our total costs.
